OUR STORY

There was a man who once lived in extreme poverty. His family lived in a one-room home that was no larger than a shed. The only way that he was able to escape this vicious cycle of poverty was through the support of his family, friends and even strangers who cared... a community. This was a community that gave his family access to food, books for education, and an open door to the world that existed outside the limitations of his condition. If not for a community of support, the man never would have made it out of poverty. This is not a fictional story or a fairy tale. This is the story of Courtney McBath, the founder of Revive Community of Virginia.

Revive offers services to individuals and families that fall into the following categories: homeless and/or living in substandard conditions, minority, illiterate or with little to no education, disabled and those without access to basic resources and training necessary to enhance their living conditions. These services include access to a healthy food pantry and grocery store, free clothing pop-up drives, short-term shelter, emergency financial assistance, various wellness workshops and trainings and critical needs transportation to access local resources (groceries, free healthcare services, local workshops/literacy trainings, temporary shelter and more).

OUR CORE PRINCIPLES

(2) ACCESS TO RESOURCES: Access to available resources through mobile transportation and shuttle service. Access to the web/internet where resources are located through the donation of equipment and free internet. Access to workshops, trainings, mental health screenings, affordable health care and services, and performing arts through facility usage and collaboration with other organizations. Access to essential LIFE ESSENTIALS (healthy foods and essential material such as toiletries) through pop-up distributions and our Feed the City Saturdays program (a bi-weekly festival of resources). Access to 131,000 sq/ft. of facility space for use by the community-at-large.

(3) CARE FOR ALL: Revive’s primary focus are those without access to resources within vulnerable populations without regard to race, creed, nationaity, orientation or age.
